Haven’t been to this place for years and this is the final weekend before they close until early 2024.
It was very busy but the kitchen coped it well, food came reasonably quick after ordering. Great service too.
Highlight for me was the Hokkien Mee. Still the best I had in Melbourne.
Other dishes were average, the marmite pork spare ribs could have been better, the bones were big and meat was quite tough.
Anyway, will always be back for the hokkien mee.
Great little local spot, delivering authentic Malaysian favourites like Char Hor Fun, Char Kway Teow and Laksa just to name a few.
Small and cosy with some big and small tables to cater for different sized groups be warned very popular on the weekends so booking is a must if you are planning to have dinner here.
Takeaway also very easy and painless if you simply want to take home as well. Parking can be a little tough but there is plenty of side streets around to park if needed.
*Update* 3 years on from my initial visit this place is still killing it. With the same high level of quality and high value for money meals Jade Kingdom still remains one of the best in Preston.
Standout dish was definately the Buddha Yam Basket with Cashew Chicken which reminded me of my parents favourite dish to order in Malaysia every big family meal out.
Best Malaysian cuisine - worth travelling half way around the world for. Don't let the modest dining room fool you, every dish is beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional flavours. Special mentions for the laksa and homemade silken tofu.
Quality and taste. I'm amazed, really love this Malaysian restaurant I visited tonight. To be honest, the food is amazing! When I first went to this restaurant. It was something I became obsessed with. This night was beautiful they had the best seafood in the Melbourne area and it was amazing to find such authentic Malaysian dishes that I can enjoy.
Very good Malaysian restaurant. We ordered Assam Fish, fried rice, king prawn with oats and blck bean tofu. They are yummy. If you are in the area then yes, worth to try but if you leave in the eastern suburbs, there are plenty of choices as good or even better.
Came to try this out cause of the high rating. Food was not terrible but gave me no reason to come back. Similar quality to the $10 takeaway Chinese stalls you see at shopping malls. All dishes were too salty, my friend and I both drank 1 L of water after dinner. I enjoyed the tea most out of the whole dinner😬Its a shame cause the reviews were really promising.
Amazing, an institution. Recommend supreme laksa, 4 heavenly kings, Hokkein mee. They were flat out because they are fast approaching a 6 month closure but the service was still attentive and friendly.

REVIEW:
For some quick and affordable food, Jade Kingdom isn't a bad option.
There were some disappointing things I'd like to remember for next time... if I were to come back. Namely:
1. Fried wonton sauce came out... pretty much when we finished our wontons. Really ill-timed.
2. The rice in the Nasi Goreng was too soft/moist. It's missing that dry-ness when it comes to fried rice where it can hold its structure.
3. Hokkien Mee with mixed noodles (egg and vermicelli) was not it. Save the dollar and stick with the original egg noodles.
4. Food in general steered towards the salty side.
Would rate the banana fritter though! Really hard to get this wrong, but it was great on a hot spring day.
